Hi, my name is Kim & I’m a dork. I am a happily married mother of a 9 yr old demon *cough cough*, er daughter. I'm usually reading on my Kindle, on the computer, or watching movies, but I'm usually reading. I'm a sucker for a happy ending. I sing badly & dance worse (only when alone or with the kid). I tend to get songs & movie quotes stuck in my head (mentally inked~get it? hee hee). I try to be a good person, wife & mother, but don’t always pull it off.
I have survived many things. I have survived losing a parent. I have survived the Avon Walk. I survived a job I hated for almost 10 years. I've survived having a beautiful devil child (so far~yes, I love her anyway). I've survived a move that left me bouncing around between the inlaws & my parents house for a few weeks. I've survived being told by my sister inlaw what she actually thinks of my husband & myself~in front of my daughter. I have survived being broke before. Why do I feel like I'm not going to make it this time?
I'm in the process of waiting for my business to take off. I've been working here & there. I need steadier work, I need more business. I need to stop feeling like a failure. I need to help my husband out more. I need to be able to make my mortgage payment & my electric bill! The credit card companies are gonna have to go screw themselves for a while.
So do I get a regular part time job? A full time job? I don't know how to work for someone else anymore...I don't even know what I'm good at anymore. What the hell do I do? I'm looking at the job listings online & I don't know what I'd be qualified for. I looked at the Problogger job board, but I don't know enough about anything or have enough experience to write for any of them. I'm not a writer, I've never been (other than being a wanna be poet). I want to work in a bookstore, not one of those big ones, either. I'm not fast. I'm not gifted. I'm not a people person.
I'm in such a mood that even my teeny bopper movies aren't working. No music today unless you wanna suggest something.
As the tears come down, I thank the heavens for spellcheck. This all makes sense to me. If it doesn't to you, I'm sorry, I'll try to do better next time. This is the mess in my head. Peace & Love
The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer has come & gone...
Here's my version of the walk (cuz you know it's different than everyone else's.):
I was a superstar! I walked all 39.something miles! I could do another one next weekend, I feel so good! (Ha, I feel like it's Opposite Day again)
Ok, now everyone knows that's crap, but it really is an amazing thing to see that many people come out for such a good cause. Oh & the people supporting everyone else absolutely kicked ass! They absolutely help to keep the walkers going. When you're feeling down & thinking you're gonna die & you're not going to be able to finish, they're right there to pump you up & make you smile. Even if it's only for a little while, then you start to feel that way again & BOOM! there they are again, picking you right back up.
Did I finish? Hell no! Do I feel bad about it? Maybe a little. I walked the 13.whatever miles on yesterday, then did a couple miles this morning & then hit the cheering station where my bff was & called it quits. But see, here's one of the cool things. Barb was one of those awesome people cheering for everyone (& with that bee-oo-tea-full baby of hers, they were total moral boosters!). So she & I went to other cheering stations to cheer on my aunt & friend Heather (who did freaking awesome, by the way) & got to cheer on others while either waiting for them or just cheering on the peeps that came after them. So, do I feel bad? Only a little. I got to have a whole new experience with being on the other side of it as sell as the walking.
There is probably a lot more that I am leaving out, but I am sore, blistered, swollen, & tired. Maybe if you remind me later, I'll have more to tell you (if I remember).
Thank you to all of my friends & family for all the support you have given me! (A humongo thanks to those who came out, be it the walk itself, dinner, or just my hotel room. I love you all, even if you're creepy *cough* Kevin *cough*!)
I almost put Wind Beneath My Wings up, but I seem to be emotional & I can't do it. Ok, this is waaaaayyy different, but I like it ( you know how much I love the covers!).
I got 3 things from this video: 1. Damn, I want her stomach (in this video). It's perfect! 2. They put Paris's Carl's commercial in the video! (ok, it's not Paris). 3. I think I would die trying to walk(I mean really walk) in boots!
Peace, Love & Advil
Edit: So y'all know, I'm talking about my walking experience. I could have not walked a step & still have known that I did a good thing, helping to raise money for a great cause!
...Because it's a holiday & I'm not ready. Instead, you get me! (Applaud, damn it!)
Ok, while this is going to be a short week, I think this is going to be one of the most stressful weeks of the year!
My baby is starting 1st grade tomorrow. I was ok with kindergarten because she'd already been thru it. This is 1st grade! Eeek! Man am I getting old...(Yes, I made it about me.)
I also have class tomorrow evening & while not hard, it's still rough, Tuesdays are my longest friggin day of the week!
Then it's almost it's Wed, which means it's almost Fri! I will be staying in Long Beach over the weekend for the Avon Walk. (Any of you who didn't know that just got smacked. I've only posted 50 million times about it!) I need to be there Fri to sign in. My friends are awesome & are going to come out Sat & cheer me on (I'll be looking for bells people! Any air horns & you better have Heather's name on your sign & not mine. hehehe).
I need a new fanny pack (because my fat ass, or tummy, as it may be, broke mine) but I don't want to pay a lot for it. I'm waiting for the hubby to put new holes in my shoes since the dogoat ate a loop. (Why do I feel like I'm in the running for the White Trash Awards?) I need to make sure I have snacks. I need to make sure that I have all my clothes & socks & wits...
I'm going to try to post once more before the weekend, but you know me...
I can't believe it's just a little over a week until the Avon Walk! I am nervous, to say the least. I know what to expect, but that doesn't make it any easier. I am 30 lbs heavier than last year (sitting on your ass all day sounds fab, but there are consequences) & that will make a big difference.
Have you donated yet? No? Don't you love me? No? Well, don't you love boobies? I'm just kidding...kind of.
You know that money is not the only way to donate. You can donate your support! If you happen to be in the Long Beach area (or are willing to travel) come cheer me on(ok, for the pod peeps~come cheer on Heather & me)! In doing this, you'll help keep me going & get the privilege of seeing whether or not I fall down! (I have already proved that weebles do, in fact, fall down!)
Kind words will help too! Ex: You can do it. You'll be fine. You will not fall down! No, I swear you don't look fat! (Lies yes, but you don't have to tell me that!)
Ok, I kinda squeezed this in to make it fit (I could have posted the Pantera one), but M Shadows is just so damn pretty to look at!
Why I should be carried, driven, dragged, or just plain sitting on my ass. And that's just my leg!
This shows ya how much the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer means to me. I damaged myself getting ready for it! For anyone who hasn't donated, but wants to, there is still a little under 2 weeks. SUPPORT ME! Um, please. Thank you!
I have a sink, full of dishes, calling me. I have work calling me. The shower is calling me. I'm ignoring them all (ok, I should probably not ignore the shower for too much longer).
So far I have had a week that has left me in a fairly crabtastic mood. Being broke, tends to leave most people that way. Having a husband who doesn't quite understand the concept of broke doesn't help either (If they're short on funds, who the hell buys steak?!).
On Sunday, I went to the OC Fair. I had a wonderful time, had some simply sinsational food (I refuse to even look at the scale), & got to hang out with my friends. I got to meet (& hug) Jack & (wave to) Stench/Stretch (that guy is friggin huge, but hey, I'm only 5' 1") from the Jack & Stench show. I had so much fun that it was worth the sunburn on my scalp & chest.
The week went downhill from there. Eric had to ask his momma to borrow money for groceries (he didn't even go to WinCo!) because our bank account is tapped until tomorrow (yes, I went to the fair, but I had free tickets & ride passes, so don't give me shit). The credit card he had didn't have enough room on it for what he got (damn it, he should have gone to WinCo!) & now our business is aired for the family. (Shit! Ignore everything you just read!)
Since there seems to be a problem with my delete button, I'll keep going. I need to pay M's school for this week plus at least part of the registration charges for the coming school year. We keep on adding on the credit card to pay for gas...blah, blah, blah...I think my bitching is done for now.
On a happy note, I'm still not smoking, though heaven knows I've needed 1 or 5 (Ahhh, those vibrating foot massage chairs at the fair! Ahem, sorry.) because of the stress. I'm also only $150 from my goal for the Avon Walk. Yaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!
Have I mentioned how fabulous the weather is today?
The next week should be different, better. "The sun will come out tomorrow!"
Yes, I'm a little ashamed, so just keep it to yourself.
One of the things they (Primerica) teach in our weekly class is that if you don't write down your goals, it's like not having them. Here are my goals:
See 2-3 people a week for work
Clean: pick up more, so the damn goat will stop eating random things (this time it was a box of kleenex-box included! Oh, & a dollar bill.)
Get more organized: Hell, I may be able to find things!
Exercise on my non-walking days.
Remember to blog weekly: Make it bigger & better...nah, I'll just remember to write.
Fundraising (short term goal): Still have fundraising to do! Click here if you'd like to donate!
I'm sure there are more, but these were the most important (ok, not writing this). I know that "be a better wife & mother" should be on here, but...baby steps people, baby steps.
I'm feeling very Tori today, so here is something soothing & beautiful.
My lesson for everyone today: Write your goals down, you may actually reach them!
Where ,oh where, has my sanity gone? Oh where, oh where can it be? I thought I saw it in the toilet... Turned out it was just my pee.
Now that is just not right! How could you write something like that? Um, read the first line. I lost my sanity! Hehehehe... I read my friend Brittany's blog on why she shouldn't write while on her period cuz she's bitchy (paraphrasing, sorry!) & thought to myself: Self, I says, at least she's got a reason! I unfortunately can not use the p-word as an excuse, I do have plenty of others, though. You wanna here them, here they go (just had an In Living Color moment~Damn you Jack & Stench!):
Hubby's working nights
I've been driving 200 miles a day for the last 4 days, just to get my daughter to & from school.
It's been just M & me...& I'm no Daddy (he is toy to all in this house!)
My 5 month old (goat) puppy ate my earphones (& my dmv registration renewal last week) & then purged them on the carpet~in front of my sleeping husband
My house is a mess & the maid seems to be on vacation (that bitch should be fired!)
My printer decided to break up w/my computer (Why???)
A kidlet in M's class asked me if I'm gonna have a baby (Damn kids & their free-speaking ways!)
I haven't smoked in 13 days (& I'm tempted, but haven't)
I tried eating right & did ok until yesterday, so I'm still fat.
There is only 2 more months until the Avon Walk & I'm only a little over 1/2 way there
There are a few days left for the Timeshare Promotion. Come on people, get your donations in to get in the drawing on the 15th. I will be using http://www.random.org/ to pick a winner & your # is given by the date your donation was received. And if you're feeling extra special generous, my friend Heather, who is also doing the walk, could really use your help, too! Thank you!
Come one, come all!, to the bitchiest circus in town! First we've got the chain-smoking hyena! And don't miss the snot-shooting monkeys! Finally, we've got the acrobatic Roses for your viewing pleasure...
If you can't guess, then I'll help you out: I'm sick. & yes, it appears I hear the voices in my head even when I'm sick! Also, I am going on 3 days without a cigarette (if you don't get the Roses reference, you are either too young to be around me right now or need to go watch War of the Roses-yes, I know there was also a book, but I haven't read it.), & I sound like the chain smoker that I am not (especially when I laugh). I am just so friggin pleasant to be around right now.
Just a little update, there are 2 more weeks to be entered into the Timeshare Raffle! I'm a little over halfway to my goal & can really use your help! Please people, it's for a fabulous cause. Let's help to save all of our boobies from cancer! I know money is tight for everyone right now. Even if you aren't able to give enough to get you entered into the raffle, every little bit helps! And if you email me w/your info, I will send you a little something special. kimberlycogley@yahoo.com
Ok, I'm starting to get all spacey again. So here's a video I like because they are nerdy sexy guys (& I happen to like the song) & I can do what I want, so nah! *sticking my tongue out*
I wonder if this person just wants me away from Facebook. (Yes Sheri, I'm talking 'bout you! Heehee.) Workin, workin, workin...I should be workin (rawhide!)...but I'm not. I am here instead. I need to bring an audio recorder w/me when I drive. I had a blog planned out on the way to drop my daughter off at school & now I can't remember what it was about. It's gone. Completely.
I remember wanting to ask for donations (hint, hint) & if people were feeling generous & still had money left, wanting them to donate to a friend who is doing a Relay For Life.
I remember wanting to plug the Jack & Stench Show on CRN (fun & funny!). If you listen online (live) you can play on the chat board & see them through their webcam!
I remember wanting to plug Soap Blok soaps (which I adore, along with the person who makes them). If you go to her page on Facebook, you can ask her about ordering. If you donate to my wonderful cause, I have some fantabulous soaps, lotions, & lip balms that I will send you, but ONLY if you email me with your info! kimberlycogley@yahoo.com. Come on, people! Donate & smell yummy! Just kidding, no pressure.
I remember a convo I had this morning about wanting to limit my Starbucks intake to once a week & the possibility of quitting the smoking very soon (I'm not definite on the smoking, so please don't cheer me on just yet or give me any shit about it).
Getting older sucks! I talked to my brother yesterday & he was so excited cuz he thought he was turning 40 this year & a friend told him he was only going to be 39. He will only be 39. (Yes, my family is full of dorks. blood-related or not, it still runs in the family!) My cousin & a good friend just turned 30 within the last few days (Welcome to old age, guys!).
My 5 year old daughter sings the Pony song. (Yes, I'm up for mom of the year.) "Mom, what does hardy (she doesn't realize they're saying horny) mean?" "Baby, that's one I'll have to explain to you when you're older & you do NOT sing that song outside of the car, got it?!" Mom of the freakin' year, I tells ya! I need a tee-shirt made.
I'm starting to remember my blog! It had a circus ring master! And a thing, & another thing!
Penguins won the Stanley Cup on Friday! The hubby was jazzed since that's where he's from. I was jazzed because it gave me the chance to harrass one of my friends (Just one of the perks of being my friend!)
I discovered the joy of paying bills with Bill Pay through the bank (yes, it took me long enough). I looove it! I may start paying my bills on time! Thank you Bill Pay(imagine a pic of me w/my thumb up)!
I can't wait for the weekend so I can see some good friends for a gradumation party. (Congratulations Christy on gradumating! I think Tricia gradumated, too, so congratulations to her too!) It'll be a blast!
Peace & Love (& Starbucks for the rest of the week!)
I'm sure some of you are a little confused about the Timeshare Promotion that I have going for the Avon Walk. Hopefully, this clears some things up for you. If not, please ask me!!
There will be no selling. You do not have to sit through a speech. This week of timeshare has been donated by my wonderful parents. You just have to show up (once when & where has been all set up) & enjoy!
You do not have to go out of the country. My mom put exotic locations in to give people ideas of where they can go. If you want to go somewhere semi-local to you, that is not a problem. Ex: I am in So Cal. Say I want to go to San Diego, San Francisco or somewhere in between, it is totally doable.
Any donation is tax deductible. If you were to donate online, save your receipt. If you were to donate by mail (check), you would just have to save the copy of your check.
Money is tight right now & you don't want to go anywhere (you don't want to pay for gas, airfare, etc.). You have until July of 2010 to use it.
$50 is a lot. For week long accommodations, it's not really, since most places cost double that a night. I don't expect everyone to give me $50. If you do, I greatly appreciate it. Your money is going to a wonderful cause. Every little bit helps. Remember, I may have a little something special for anyone who donates ANYTHING! The $50 is just to be entered for the timeshare.
Hopefully, I covered everything. If not, please comment or email me at kimberlycogley@yahoo.com.
Again, if you'd like to donate, please click HERE & it will take you to my page with the Avon Walk.
I really do appreciate you all for any donations you give & any emotional support (it helps more than you know), as well.
Here are the details on the timeshare giveaway from the flyer that my lovely mom made up for me (She & my steppops were gracious enough to donate this!!!):
Avon Walk for Breast Cancer-SEPT. 12TH & 13TH
My daughter Kim is doing the AVON 2- DAY BREAST CANCER WALK. She has to raise a minimum of $1800.
Here’s what you could win. 1 week of timeshare to go any where depending on the availability. The possibilities are endless. Anywhere from Aruba to Europe to Mexico to Canada. ****
The drawing will be held on July 15, 2009 and must be used by July 1, 2010. ***This only includes accommodations. Airfare, car rental and spending money, are not included. No monetary value** *
Thank you for helping fight this deadly disease.
As a little side note, remember that if you donate anything at all, you may still get a little something special. Just email me with your info at: kimberlycogley@yahoo.comIf you have any questions, let me know!
I hope everyone had a great Mommy's Day! I had a wonderful day. I got a pedicure with my mommy & went & had dinner with my mother in-law. My daughter was nice to me (for most of the day) & so was the hubby!
I studied last week like a good girl, but still have not taken my test because I'm a tard. I got lost in San Diego & drove around in circles for about an hour. Stupid one-way streets! I will reschedule because I am ready to take that damn test. I just want to get it done already!!
I am still working on my fundraiser (yes, I've been walking some, too) for the Avon Walk, but I can tell y'all now that for anyone who donates $50 or more within the next month or 2 (I'll let you know when the details are finalized) will be entered into a raffle to win a week long timeshare to your destination of choice, depending on availability. For anyone who donates (anything), please email me at kimberlycogley@yahoo.com with your name, address & telephone # & I may have a special little treat for you! To get to my Avon Walk page, please click here.
I have been lax on the writing to y'all, but it's for a good cause, I swear (me trying to earn income is a great cause!). I will try to do better.
I hope everyone is having a great day & I hope you have a great week!
A glimpse into the way my mind works (written how I think). Sad, isn't it?
I have kinda dropped the ball on writing this last week. I'd like to say that it was because I was studying or because I started training for the Avon Walk or trying to find a cure for world hunger, but that is not the case. I have had my head in the books (Twilight Saga & The Host). I am a major procrastinator. I should be studying now, but I have all my wonderful friends on Twitter & Facebook & the JJS boards to keep me busy. I even went for a walk today (anything to keep me from studying!!!!). I walked 1 1/4 miles today. Not great, but hell it's a start & it got my fat ass off the couch!
I am a person who obsesses over things so when I start a new book, I'm screwed because nothing else gets done. I watched the Twilight movie about a month ago & have been obsessed ever since. That there Robert Pattinson is just beautiful on one of those weird ways. Yes, I'm a 30 year old woman crushing on a 22 yr old boy. Sue me. Just don't tell anyone because, well, it's embarrassing!! Because of this new crush , though, I did find the books. Yes, my sister told me about them before (I LOVE vampire stuff!), but I didn't want to read a young adult book! These books were wonderful (I've now read them all twice) & I can't wait for the New Moon movie to come out in November! I've told my hubby that that is what I want to to for my birthday. Yes, I'm going to brave the millions of teenage girls at the movie theater opening weekend!
Yes, I'm still smoking & still need to quit. I think the walking will help me w/that because I need to breath.
I'm still working on getting my fundraising stuff out to you. I have some absolutely wonderful-smelling soaps, lotions, lip balms, & candles for you. I've got the knowledge of what I want to do, but not on HOW to do it. I'll be working on it (ok, with a little help from a friend)!
Is there something wrong with me? Yes. Yes, I think there is.
Once I figure out how to do it (I'm a computer idiot), I will be posting for a fundraiser. As y'all know, I will be walking in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in September (if I can get my fat ass off the couch, that is). Here is the link directly to my page, if you'd like to donate, I'd appreciate it. If you're one of those people who feel they should get something for their money, keep an eye out because I will be posting some items on here for you to buy. The proceeds will go to the walk. Hopefully, I will get this figured out soon!
